Every update resets workspace customizations, toolbar, viewer etc

Yes, that's been the behavior for quite a while. Every update, regardless of how minor it may be, resets the workspace. Irritating, but it's just a click of the Workspace menu to retrieve your workspace if you've saved it as a custom workspace. The other thing C1 does is update the default keyboard shortcuts (they've changed some over the years). This, too, can be overcome if you save a set of custom shortcuts.

Thank you @abbott!  I didn't know saving my custom workspace was an option (never looked for it).  This makes it far less painful.  Really no big deal now.

Details for others who may not know:  Window -> Workspace -> Save Workspace

You should find that when there is a reset of the workspace because of an update, Capture One has automatically saved a copy of your workspace as it was before the update. Try looking at Window > Workspace and see what is listed there.

The reason it resets the workspace is that sometimes new tools are introduced, and if you had remained on the old workspace, they wouldn't show up, because they were not part of your customised workspace. If you want to go back to your saved workspace, you can, but you would need to manually add in to it the new tools, if any.

I didn't know each update saves the workspace and allows me to restore it. Thanks for that tip!

But you did know that shit happens and that you can save a workspace for a later restore? Some users create and save multiple workspaces. It used to be good practice to save any favorite workspace, even if it is the current C1's default.  Just in case...
