I can't open any database after the new update. When I went back to 15.2.1 everything works. I had to delete any other version on my machine before 15.2.1 would read my catalog files

Also sessions do not work. Can't open any existing sessions and same problem with a new session.

Yes nothing works,  I made sure Widows 10 was up to date and updated the video driver. Several reboots later and I still can't use it. Not very happy 😕

Same here (can't open existing or create new sessions because of unknown errors reading the database), Windows 10 Pro 64 bit, all up-to-date.

I'm having the same or similar problem. After upgrading to 15.3, when I try to open my catalog C1 says there was an unknown error and the catalog cannot  be opened.

Just installed the latest C1 version 15.3. When I start C1 and try to open my catalog, I get an error saying C1 can't open the database due to an unknown error. I took a look at C1's application.log file and it has a lot of errors pertaining to styles. All different style files but always the same error: "Empty Style Tag".
I haven't created any styles - just whatever C1 provides by default.

Same problem here and I could not find a way to download the previous version (15.2)

The previous version page allows to download Capture One 21 but not previous releases of Capture One 22

Now I have found the problem and CO starts without any error message.
In my case there was an old preset file in the directory
    c:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\CaptureOne\Presets60\CropRatios\16x9
    (xxx my user name)
If I delete this folder then CO starts. If I restore the folder then I get the error message and the session could not be loaded.
At my first attempt I just renamed the c:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\CaptureOne to c:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\CaptureOneOld and then Capture one already started. After reverting one folder after the other I found this preset folder as the reason for the problem

Stephan, I looked for the string and it doesn't show up on my PC (Win 10 Pro 64).  Hopefully the folks at Capture One will send out a patched version soon.  I'm dead in the water until then.

Thank you Stephan Riedelbeck (See above), I have just done the rename and now can use 15.3.0. It forces you to login again but that is it.

Why didn't Capture One come up with this???

Stephan Riedelbeck, thanks for the information; I looked in (c:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\CaptureOne\Presets60) and found the string.  For some reason there were 2 'Crop Ratios' folders.  I deleted the folder with the presets and tried to open Capture One again - success!  The new update opened and I'm up and running.

I looked for folder CropRatios\16x9 (user name). The CropRatios folder does not exist on my machine, possibly because I don't use presets. Anyway, I renamed the Presets60 folder to Presets60 A and reinstalled 15.3.0.  It seemed to work.  I say seemed because I need to use it and run it though its paces to be sure.  Certainly the initial issue is resolved for me. Thanks to all who contributed to solving this.

    c:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\CaptureOne\Presets60\CropRatios\16x9 (xxx my user name)

Confirming what Stephan said, worked for me too. 👍  Thank you, and shame on Capture One for (as far as I can see) still not having responded to this issue.

I struggle with the same. If I downgrade to 15.2.2.5, everything works fine again
