Data Base Repair — Issue

I verified my catalog and it failed. I clicked repair and the dialog box said "transfer in progress".  Its been running two hours.  The progress bar appears to be complete but its repeating the words transfer in progress.  How long does this take? I have a very large library of images?  What should I do?
