activation/reactivation on Mac update
I commented on an earlier thread on difficulty with 15.3 and activation/deactivation. I want to add some more details.
From my previous post -
"I have a related problem. Upon launch, new version says license code could not be verified by server and gave me a choice to quit or deactivate. When I click deactivate I get a screen that says this version has been activated when I click deactivate it says it could not deactivate the software on the server.
So, sounds like it might be a permissions issue communicating with captureone.
However, if I install and tell it to keep both copies, the new one opens fine, authenticates fine, but is a blank copy, no styles, process recipes, etc. This seems to argue against the communication permission idea."
------------- New info and workaround---------------
In the first screen that comes up, I notice that there is no activation history, even though the screen indicates that this version is activiated. I have tried deactivating at my C1 account and think the upshot is that I have the local file and the C1 file out-of-sync, likely need C1 help.
HOWEVER
If I turn off wifi and am completely discounted from the web, C1 starts up without issue. I can import images and work on them. I have not checked for bugs that others have reported.
FURTHERMORE
Once I am running offline I can go back online and still work with C1. I can also check license, try to deactivate - no joy - but, the program does not crash.
WORKAROUND
For me, the workaround is to go offline, start C1, then go back online.
I hope this might work for others.
