Moving photos between 2 Mac computers
I just got a new Mac Studio and want to migrate photos from years of using versions of C1 onto my new SSD. I can't figure out how to make this happen. I could migrate using an ethernet connection but I don't want to bring everything on these other computers, there are 3 of them. a couple weeks ago I managed to move about 20 images from C1 on my MBP onto my new desktop, they were connected via ethernet and took over 30 minutes to move the photos, that won't work with many thousands, I don't want to loose all of my efforts at grading and any adjustments. Apple has been no help they are not trained to move C1 images-data within the eco system of C1. I have literally weeks spent working on images to get them ready to print.
C1 22 will not open catalogs on more than 1 computer. I start a new catalog at the beginning of each year, I keep getting an Unable to Open Catalog message when I try to open this years Catalog on my laptop when it's open on my desktop, this is a new issue.
Both of my Mac's have Thunderbolt 4 connections and there is such a thing as Thunderbolt Bridge which should work like an ethernet connection only faster, I can't get that to work either.

How are you connecting the MBP to the ethernet?
If you're using something like a dock/hub with an ethernet port on the back:
- Check to see what speed that ethernet port is rated at
- Make sure you're using a Thunderbolt 4 rated cable (while it will connect, the speed will be dramatically different between different classes of cables)
- Make sure you're plugging into the correct Thunderbolt port designated for connection to your computer. Also verify whether it's a TB2, TB3, TB4 class port.
If you're using a Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter:
- Verify what type Thunderbolt class it is. TB4 will give you the best speed on your MBP/Mac Studio. Each drop in class will be a slower connection speed.
On your network
- Sometimes the bottleneck can happen on a hub plugged into a router, plugged into a switch etc. Simply put, the slowest connection in the chain will be the speed at which your data transfers.
Or do it the way I did. Bought a SanDisk 2TB SSD and a TB4 cable and copied everything onto that, and then copied the contents of the SSD to my new computer.
Good luck! Hope this helped
