How are you connecting the MBP to the ethernet?

If you're using something like a dock/hub with an ethernet port on the back:

    • Check to see what speed that ethernet port is rated at
    • Make sure you're using a Thunderbolt 4 rated cable (while it will connect, the speed will be dramatically different between different classes of cables)
    • Make sure you're plugging into the correct Thunderbolt port designated for connection to your computer.  Also verify whether it's a TB2, TB3, TB4 class port.

If you're using a Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter:

    • Verify what type Thunderbolt class it is.  TB4 will give you the best speed on your MBP/Mac Studio.  Each drop in class will be a slower connection speed.

    On your network

    • Sometimes the bottleneck can happen on a hub plugged into a router, plugged into a switch etc.  Simply put, the slowest connection in the chain will be the speed at which your data transfers.

Or do it the way I did.  Bought a SanDisk 2TB SSD and a TB4 cable and copied everything onto that, and then copied the contents of the SSD to my new computer.

    Good luck!  Hope this helped
