Brush Hardness issue - mask remaining about 50% hard despite being set to 0% hardness

Anybody else experiencing this? When setting the brush setting to 0% hardness the brush remains hard at about 50% or so. I can clearly see from the mask that the edge of the mask remains within the centre circle of the brush.
 
 I have the brush on 0% hardness so it should be really soft and I'm pretty sure in previous versions of C1 the brush mask would taper off to the perimeter of the outer circle rather than giving the appearance of being about 50% hardness?
 
I'm using the latest C1 15.3.1.15
I have brush set to full flow and opacity, 0% hardness.
No auto mask nor Pen pressure selected in brush settings.
Its the same with the mouse as well as the XP-Pen I'm using.
Tried closing C1 down and reopening, no different, same no matter what session/catalogue I use.
The Erasure brush does exact;y the same thing. 
 
Tried restarting the computer, no difference. 
Am I missing something or is this a support thing?

    SOLVED - it was down to the pointer size in settings/accessibility/display/pointer being set to bigger than the normal setting. I never touched that setting so must have happened at setting up the Mac.
