my catalogs are suddenly empty..
why can't I see any of my former picture imports - the catalogs are there, but it seems as if the pictures are gone..?

I just had something similar happen. When I open a recent session, one that I have just been working on, all the images are gone. In the image browser panel there is a message that says "No images in collection." I get this same message whether I select the All Images album or the Capture Folder. Same with several smart albums I created; all of them now show no images. The images were there before, now they are not.
To be clear, the actual image files are in my hard drive exactly where they were before. Capture One is not able to find them. Maybe this is the same issue mentioned above.
I am using the latest version of Capture One 21 (not 22 - Build 14.4.1.16) on an iMac 27" running MacOS Monterey v.12.4.
Can anyone give me some insights into how to get the images back? I have spent significant time editing them, and I don't want to have to repeat that. Thx.

Okay, I have fixed whatever was going on, but I would love it if someone could explain to me why this worked.
In my Capture folder for the session, I had a sub-folder with the date of creation as the name: 22-07-11. All the image files were in there. I used the Finder to move them to the top level Capture folder, along with the Capture One folder that was in that sub-folder. Now all my images are back, along with all the edits I made on them. Whew!
I am puzzled why exactly this happened though. I should be capturing into the Capture folder, not a sub-folder inside it. My general practice is to use Session folders for my editing and image organizing, and I use the default structure with folders called Capture, Output, Selects and Trash. If I import twice into the Session I generally get a new sub-folder inside Capture that is labeled with the date of the new import. I did not do that with this collection though, so I'm very puzzled. Also greatly pleased that I got all my images and edits back.
