Export in HEIC
It has probably been mentioned before in here but still hasn't been implemented.
I would very much love to export images out of C1 in the HEIC format.
Today I have to export my images in TIFF format and then convert those images with another external tool into HEIC format in order to finally be able to add them to the Photos app.
I know there is JPEG but that's a bloated format that doubles the size of my Photos app and I find it mediocre to HEIC in quality.

Which is wrong Kevin, we can regularly import HEIC images in C1 since version 21.

@Andy… Import ≠ export.

A HEIC/HEIF export option would be a fantastic addition!

I can’t believe this still hasn’t been implemented yet. Figured it was just around the corner after import was added quite some time ago.

Why? Has Capture One given you any reason to think it was coming?
And which of the competitors has it (except maybe for Apple HEIC/HEIF files)?

Yes, there is still no way to export directly from within C1. I still have to do the roundtrip exporting into TIFF and converting with another tool (PhotoMill) into HEIC. I do not like to export using JPEG as those files result in much larger files. And although my iPad has 2TB I don't want to fill it with lousy JPEGs. I don't know if Lightroom is capable of providing a HEIC export as I don't use Adobe products at all. But there are several Mac apps on the market that don't have a problem of providing direct HEIC export (e.g. Pixelmator Pro, PhotoMill, etc.).

Out of curiosity, I just did a quick check, and it appears that LR can't export in HEIC.

It was quite reasonable to expect it after they introduced compatibility with HEIC files. But still only for editing.

C1 Export but opt for OpenWith:Preview then use its FileExport:HEIC.

I've been thinking some more about this. All of the relevant apps I have (Capture One, Lightroom, Photoshop, Affinity Photo) can open HEIC files, and none of them can export in that format, so it's not just Capture One.
I suspect there is either some technical issue that means none of them can do this, or some licensing issue, as HEIC is an Apple proprietary format.

It’s not an apple proprietary format, however there are indeed licensing fees associated with it.

PIRAN, yes that works but will it also work with hundreds of images at once?
@Wilson, can't be technical in my opinion as other apps allow to export into HEIC as I wrote above (Pixelmator Pro, PhotoMill and surely others).

I don't know. And yet, Photoshop, Lightroom and Affinity Photo don't either!

They likely just don’t want to pay to license it. Yet our licenses for C1 continue to go up in price 😂
