Reverse Linear Gradient
Request for:
pls add a reverse linear gradient like a reverse Grad. ND Filter.
It will mask in the middle and fade out to the top or the bottom of the picture.
With the same positioning features like the normal grad. Mask.
Thank you

Maybe I'm not understanding exactly what you're after, but after initially setting the Linear Gradient, you can invert it, or drag the top or bottom (left or right) extremity lines in either direction and across the middle to the opposite side, as well as rotate it.
Does that not do what you're after? There are tutorials on this website and more on youtube.

Good Morning Mr. Tomsic,
Thank you for your fast response.
I mean, when you klick in the middle of a picture and draw a mask to the top or the bottom. So the mask will have 100% in the middle and fades out to 0% to the edges.
So you can make a stripe.
The mask now has 100% at the Edge and fades out in the middle to 0%. An invert mask just changes the complete direction with 180 degrees.
Think of a sunset above the sea and the Horizont line.
100% on the Horizont line and fades out equal to the top and lower edge to 0%
So you can mask a small stripe.0 -
Yeh, I getchya now. That's also something I've been wishing for so I've added my vote.
In the meantime, as a workaround, I'd suggest you could use two Layers: first do one LG mask, copy it to another Layer, then invert it.0 -
I agree that it's still a workaround, but another option I saw mentioned recently is to use a really flattened radial mask, like this. Works for some images. But I agree that a gradient mask working from the centre outwards would be good.

Was in a rush for work before, but a couple of alternatives I thought of later was the flattened Radial Gradient as Ian suggested, or using the normal round brush at a large size and Hardness set to 100, click on one side of the image, hold Shift key, then click on the opposite side. However, the problem with this is it's not as easy to re-adjust the mask afterwards.
So, to clarify for any Capture One staff who may review this:
- we would like to request a double-sided Linear Gradient mask
- with option for the width of each side to be adjusted either equally simultaneously or independently of each other1 -
agree, this would be a usefull addition
