Remap the DEL key
There are lots of threads about the problems with the Del key. The fact that you can't remap it is a mistake in UX design. I am working on a batch of images for a client and I've lost a lot of time because I accidentally clipped the Del key.
I've looked in Edit > Edit Shortcuts and there is no way to assign this key to something else or to stop it being used. This suggests that it is hardcoded.
Feature Request:
The current "advertised" shortcuts are fine and these are:
- ctrl+del move to trash
- this appears to be the behaviour of the del key generally.
- variants appear to be deleted permanently (very annoying)
- alt+del perma delete
And I assume that the Mac equivalents are the same. This is the behaviour that I would expect.
Option 1. Unmap the Del key (preferred). Allow those who use the Del key to remap it to the advertised shortcut if they wish.
Option 2. Add a clear warning that pops up, with no action taken, that advises the user of what the Del key is going to do. Have an option to permanently dismiss it for those who like using the key.
Personally I would like to see Option 1 implmented as it is the most flexible choice.
for example
Delete key - bad behaviour /bad design – Capture One
There's lots of older threads going back years. It is clearly a desired feature.
