iPad app - camera controls + external drive capture
Considering the use case of Capture One with a portable device like an iPad or MacBook Pro, I think it's pretty imperative that these core workflow functions are added to the iPad.
1. External SSD capture
"It's not possible to write to an external HD while shooting" (YouTube livestream 23/9/22) - I hope this is more of an iPadOS / hardware issue with current iPads, as opposed to not being possible full stop from Capture One. Otherwise, shoots of 500+ photos will be quite a hassle saving to the iPad, only to then transfer them to an SSD.. especially considering the slower write speeds of an iPad Pro (~500mb/s) vs a MBP (~1450mb/s). Watching the latest tethering livestream on YouTube, it took ~30 seconds to export 9 images to an SSD. That's about 27min to transfer 500 photos using a similar transfer rate. Being able to transfer during capture would alleviate most of these gripes.
2. Camera control
I think camera control through the iPad is extremely useful (along with live view), as I often place my camera in tight spaces near lights or on a boom, where it's not easily accessible.
I'm in the market for a new portable device to use with Capture One. Whilst I'd love a 12.9" iPad Pro for this use case... for my requirements, these 2 features are a must to make it an attractive alternative to a MacBook Pro. I'd pay even more for Capture One if a cost factor was involved to improve iPad functionality.
