B&W Split tones
Hi! In our photo club we have two image categories, color and monochromatic. The latter is defined as B&W where toning with one color only is allowed. If I convert a color image into B&W using 'Enable B&W' and then go to Split Tones and then choose a hue & saturation level for highlights OR shadows (but not for both), does my image then count as a monochromatic image?
I prepared one image like this and it caused a lively discussion in our monthly meeting as some considered the image as color! Many thanks for your help!

Purest... LOL. Good luck on that one. I have no input.

The toning presets (not the split-toning presets) in Capture One seem to go for the same hue value for highlights and shadows (though not the same saturation value) for some of the presets - for instance the Blue presets all have equal hue settings of 219 for all of Blue 1, Blue 2 and Blue 3.
On the other hand for some of the others they don't - for example the Red presets set the hue for highlights to 15 and for shadows to 10. (So are they strictly not quite the same colour?)
I would guess that your image is strictly only a monochromatic image if the hue and saturation for both highlights and shadows are the same. But really it is up to the club to be more specific about what their rule means!
