Variant name as a meta data field and global token under filename in browser

Today the variant name is tied to the file name. The only way of naming a variant is to add text to a meta data field like “Description” or similar.  In order to do that I have I have to have the meta data tab open. Instead f just being able to change the name in the browser.

I would like to see a a meta data field for variant name that I can toggle on/off In the browser below the filename for faster adding a name to a variant. I would also have the variant name as a global token for automation so it can be used for file/folder naming in export, filtering and similar.
