#FAIL 22 crashing ...?? bought 4 months ago doesn't work z9 Nikon
I've been unable to use Capture One purchased by me in July of this year as I shoot RAW using Nikon Z9 and support hasn't been there.
I tried to look just this morning as I got notice of ver 23. Now my 22 won't open - crashes every time. No fix suggested. Just crashes.
So I looked at the upgrade - for my four month old purchase - and it's more than full price.
Not happy. Not right.

What exact version of Capture One 22 are you using? You need to update to the very latest 15.4.2 if you are using the Z9's Lossless or High Efficiency files. (Free update - not the same as an upgrade to version 23.)

I'm on 15.4.2.1 now. Re downloaded. Seems to be working.
Still feels pretty bad that I can buy the software in late July and in November it's obsolete and no credit for upgrade.

Well
- many photo-editing apps bring out annual versions - for example Photoshop (though that is on a subscription basis only) , ON1, and so on. How soon a new version supersedes a previous one rather depends on when on the year you bought it.
- Capture One 22 will continue to work - no obligation to upgrade it, especially now that you have an update that fully supports your Z9.
- Being obsolete after just a short time is a perennial problem in high-tech fields. I have a Z6ii - there are rumours that there will be a Z6iii quite soon. In one sense that makes my Z6ii obsolete, but in fact it will continue to take great images for years to come, even if it is no longer the latest model.
- You have the option of having Capture One on a subscription instead, in which case you can always have the latest version - as long as you keep paying the subscription.

Fair enough. I suppose. Still seems a little hmm when it’s software and that close.
I’m still trying to decide if I like as much / more / different than Lightroom. Seems it is handling Z9 files better than it did a few months ago.0
