Cost is getting ridiculous
Well, since my voice was not heard last time. It seems like things have gotten even worse with regards to pricing.
This time around v23 is $417 for a license! If you are on v22 and would like to upgrade, that's gonna be another $278 ($CDN + taxes don't forget)!!!
While the culling UI looks interesting and the style match tool too. Those are not worth that much of an upgrade cost. Being an Android user with zero iPads, the whole iPad feature is not useful to me at all.
It seems to me that back in the day, C1 use to be pretty humble in the pricing space. It was fair and the stability compared to LR was the decider for me to go the C1 route. But things have gone off the rails now. I detest Adobe's approach too but compared to the C1 pricing, the value provided by Adobe is trouncing C1 now.

They’re going to do what Lightroom did and that’s push people away. Yes I can continue using version 22 but why put anymore of my time into a product I’m leaving

Taking advantage of the extra 20% off offer for pre-ordering, I paid £159.99 for my upgrade from 22 to 23. That comes to just about £3 a week, no more than the cost of a single cup of coffee per week bought in a café. Considering how much I use Capture One, I don't think that is too bad, and I'm just a hobbyist not a pro. And I could readily just make coffee at home instead of buying it out if I wanted to recoup the cost. Back in the day we used film, and at today's prices I dread to think what the weekly cost of film and processing would come to. We have become too used to a lot of software being free or nearly free. I think I get what I pay for, but if you don't think so, other apps are out there.

I agree with the sentiments herein. I have used C1 since C1 V9, but the price has gotten way too steep for a now-retired "keen amateur" as I am. Add to that Adobe has improved Adobe Lightroom CC (I only use the "desktop" version) and Photoshop in the last year (AI, masking, sky replacement et al.). I despise subscriptions even though I have the Adobe Photographer sub and really don't like where C1 is headed 2ithC1 2023 (eg to get any updates from 2023, you either pay for them directly or subscribe). And because Adobe's offering is cheaper, I will not renew my C1 sub nor get the static licensed version. I still love C1, but it's time for a divorce.
For us KA's, the likes of Luminar NEO and Radiant photo are just fine for placing our work online or even printing (I am all digital and don't print any longer).
