My first impressions of the Cull feature (meh ...)
Disclaimer: So far I've been culling images with Photo Mechanic. The king has not been dethroned yet.
For now I am not super impressed with the new cull mode. The grouping in the cull window is not bad - even though it still makes some big mistakes from time to time. But I am sure it will mature.
What I do not like at all is the UI.
1. The light gray / dark gray background in the viewer film strip is strenuous. Especially on a higher resolution monitor. It gives me a headache looking at it and figuring out what I see. And it's not even zoomable.
2. In addition to this there is way too little optical feedback for whether I am currently looking at a photo in a group or a single photo. So I have to constantly go "right cursor, down cursor, down, down" to see if I start scrolling through a group.
This is annoying and the potential for missing something is huge IMO.
We need some other feedback (optical and/or audible) that clearly tells us when we hit a group.

I use Photo Mechanic Pro for my initial culling, adding GPS data and keywords. It works great is very fast.

No, dear spammer, you don't. There is no such thing (and never was).

That's funny. I'm a longterm Capture One Pro user, since version 6.

Most of us are, but that is irrelevant. The point is you never used Photo Mechanic Pro.

I use both, actually. I’ve been a user of Photo Mechanic before Capture One Pro. PM for culling, GPS assignment and keywords. C1P for RAW processing and cataloging. It works for me.

Both what? Photo Mechanic and Capture One Pro?
The Modus Operandi of spammers that pester the forum is to post some rubbish and include a link to more rubbish.
You claimed to use Photo Mechanic Pro (rubbish) and you included a link not pointing to Capture One nor to Photo Mechanic. I would not have commented on your claim to use "Photo Mechanic Pro" if you had not also included your link.

Boy this thread went downhill fast. :(

Fair comment. Not even close to rubbish and you did not include a link to unrelated stuff.

Here's another wish on my list for the Cull view:
It is great that culling can be interrupted (closing out of the Cull window) while selects will be maintained.
When getting back to a large cull session however, it can be tedious to find the point where one has left off. Therefore it would be great to be able to filter by selects.
For one it can give a nice quick overview what has been selected for import so far, but also it will help finding the point where selection stopped.

One more:
There needs to be a keyboard shortcut to zoom in 100%.
My workflow - and I would imagine it's similar for most other users - is to have the right hand on the four arrow keys and the left hand on the space bar and/or on "S" and "A".
Having to lift the right hand frequently to reach for the mouse to zoom in completely disrupts the workflow.
(And of course it is similar for left hand mouse.)"Z" or Shift + "Z" would work fine. Or the possibility to include all cull window keyboard shortcuts in C1's keyboard shortcut customization.

It would be faster if you would use just two keys (one for next image and one for rating).
Now, I find it jarring to not automatically jump to the next image, when rating.
And a big stopper is that you must press the next group key, instead of just going to the next image in the next group way faster, by pressing the next image key.
There are about four key presses to cull, instead of just working simpler with two keys.
These alone would make culling a breeze, it would be just a Yes or No situation.
