tethering not disconnecting

Hi all, shooting using a canon 5d iv tethered to a mac running monterey 12.6, using capture one 12.

My issue is anytime my camera disconnects (dead battery, cable fault) i am not actually disconnecting from the software.....the camera icon stays "connected"...and the only way i can reconnect is to restart capture. i am running 2 exact same setups in 2 studios...same problem both studios.

Any ideas what the issue is? Thanks in advance
