Software version in EXIF
Hi,
I'm puzzled what the information in the "Software" field of the Camera chapter in the EXIF means. I see different values like "Capture One 11" or "Capture One 16 for Macintosh" or "Capture One 22" all in the same year and across different versions of Capture One.
It would be nice if the value reflected the version of Capture One with which the image is exported.

I just want to say that the "Software" field in the Camera chapter of the EXIF data typically refers to the software used to generate or edit the image file, not necessarily the specific version of the software. In the case of Capture One, the value in the "Software" field could reflect the version of the software used to export the image, but it's not guaranteed to be the case.
It's worth noting that the EXIF data is often generated by the camera itself and can be overwritten by subsequent editing or processing software. So even if an image was originally exported from Capture One 11. Tell Tims Survey

Is it possible to Filter/ create a smart album on the Software key?
I have no found a way.0 -
What do you mean software version? Do you mean Processing Engine version?

Nope, see the field below. Thanks!

No, it is not possible to filter for the EXIF data field Software or to create an intelligent album with that value. I guess usually this field contains the camera firmware version instead of your example which obviously shows an image prior processed by DxO PureRAW before importing into Capture One (as DNG?)

Exactly. Would love to be able to filter these out to distinguish processed vs un-processed.

Do you use macOS or Windows? I wonder if an AppleScript search could find them and add them to an album?

I tested this and you can search for every image where EXIF camera software starts with "some string" using AppleScript. This tells me you could then make the script add the list of found images to a new collection. I did a test to find all the images that were created using VueScan.

I am on Mac, thanks for confirming that method will work. It's been a long time since I broke open the apple script but will play around with that. Thanks!
