Can't set shortcut key for new album

No I didn't. In my original message I said I'd set it to Alt-A, but that was not it. I think it was CTRL-ALT-A. In any case, I know it was not a shortcut that was already used. When you use a shortcut key that is already assigned, you get an error message at the bottom of the keyboard shortcut window. But I did not get that message. I am sure it's not a case of conflicting shortcut keys.

    Thanks

    (1) Have you got the shortcuts  Set  selected to your personal one rather than the Capture One Default? (at the top of the Shortcuts dialog box)

(2)The only place in the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog that I can find "New Album" is under  File> New Collection. Is that where you added your shortcut?
If I go via the menu: File> New Collection, >New Album is greyed out. If it's the same for you, then whatever the reason for that is will be why the shortcut isn't working.
Suggest you refer to the User Guide.

Otherwise, you can add a New Album from the Library tab menu ( ... ) or by clicking on the "+" next to the Session Albums or User Collections in a Catalog.
But I don't think this is the same as going via the File menu or adding a shortcut for that. I don't think you can create shortcuts for actions from the Tools unless they are also in the menu (e.g. mask actions which are found both in the Layers tool and the Layers menu)

    1) yes

    2) Yes that is the item I am setting the shortcut key for. But you are right. When I go to File->New Collection->New Album the menu shows the shortcut key I configured. So that is correct. But that menu item is greyed out and can't be clicked. I can still go to the library tab and click the + sign next to user collections and create an album.

So the problem isn't so much the failure to set a short cut key, it's because the command itself is disabled.

I've done a quick skim through the User Guide topics and have not found any info about this. But will continue digging.
