Album management and filter options
Hi everyone at CO, and happy new year to all.
First, many many thanks for having introduced with CO23 the ability to separate variants among different albums. Really crucial for my workflow and I suspect for many.
Now, a few improvements I still miss to make workflow easier when managing the catalog and separate projects.
1. Smart albums today apply their selection criteria WITHIN a project box. But when one moves to a separate project box, it would be nice to apply to this other project box certain smart albums which are general workflow-type albums (say, checking that images have been assigned metadata, or other processing milestones). The easiest way would be to copy-paste the smart albums from one project box to the other. Right now I can only, it seems, re-program identical smart albums in the new project box, which is tedious, or drag a smart album from Project box A to Project box B, one at a time. Impossible to act on more than one smart album (or album for that matter) at a time, and impossible to duplicate the album(s) (smart or not) so as to have one (or more) stay in the original box and the other(s) move to another box.
2. Also, the criteria allowed to filter smart albums do not foresee the choice of the source album/folder/project as a way to narrow down the images or variants to which the filter is applied. Lightroom has allowed this forever, and it's definitely a handy way to slice and dice one's catalog.
Hope the above makes sense and hope you may consider this for future releases.
Best regards
Giovanni Maggiora
