Problem tethering with M1 Pro Macbook Pro and OSX 13.1

I have a similar problem. With a Mac M1 Max Studio system, OS 13.1, and CO 23. My Canon 5d Mark II (old and well-established for connecting effortlessly via tethering) and my (newly acquired) 5Ds connect intermittently to CO23 if at all. If CO23 is running and I try to connect, neither camera will register. BUT, if I have the camera(s) freshly turned on and not in standby mode, and THEN launch CO23, they intermittently connect but never unless the above procedure is followed. Occasionally I've had to reboot the computer before this procedure works. Once they are connected, they seem to stay connected.

Same here. With Canon R5 and R5C.

Removing the Cards helps, but then I get the anoying "No Card in Camera" displayed in the viewfinder, which is disturbing during the shooting.

Honestly I don't understand, why that happens since a couple of releases back and it's not fixed.

It would be nice to have a simple programm which works perfectly as a RAW converter and for tethered shooting, not with all the fancy stuff in it, which I can do easily in Photoshop. I'm sorry to say, Capture One was faster and 100% reliable 10 years ago, and yes also with approx. 50 MP cameras (Phase One / Hasselblad Cameras)....

....I'm using cable from Tethertools (new ones).....Apple M1 Max 64GB RAM

....same with my Canon R3 btw.

I tried tethering in Lightroom and found I was having the same problem with Adobe's program. At this point I decided it was an operating system issue. I tried Apple tech support which was a waste of time. I decided to wipe the new computer and start from scratch. I am happy to report the new computer is tethering like a champ.  Problem solved. Now I just have to reinstall all the crap I already put on the machine. I have had worse problems.

When my prob started I was using a “standard” quality cable while i waited for my order from tethertools to get here.  that’s when I wrote my post above.  I have just received my Pro Cable from Tethertools and the problem vanished.  I have experienced something similar only in the last two years with various new devices, phones, ipads, etc.  No adapters, only carefully selected cables.  Here’s another example.

See my post 9 month ago above......

BTW, it's the same with MacBook Pro M2 and the NEW Version of C1 23.

The problem is, that the disconnecting is just random. Sometimes it works a half day, then the disconnecting happens again. I tried different cable and new cable.

Many time a missed a shot, because the connection was broken and I realised it too late, and had to reshoot the set, which is more than annoying if you have the client on site.
