Error *Document cannot be opened* and Program Crash
So I was continuously getting the error
"THe document couldn't be opened because there is not enough space. Please free up at least 217.2MB on the drive containing the document."
M1 Mac Mini
OS 13 Ventura
Capture One 23 (16.0.1)
After searching everywhere and not finding a solution and not wanting to wait on email tech support I decided to dig into my catalog files. My catalogs are stored on a 1TB drive and the drive had 4.07GB left. Naturally this should be enough space. Well because of some coding shortfall it's not. BUT I figured out a solution.
I went to my drive with the files and chose an old one. I right clicked and chose "Show Package Contents". That reveals why the catalog files are so large, they are storing all the Backups, Cache, and Adjustments. The CACHE is going to be the largest part of it because the Thumbnails and Previews folders are in there. I went ahead and deleted some of the old thumbnails to files I won't be opening anytime soon and I can now use Capture One again to edit.
I decided to post this so it can maybe help someone else.
EDITING TO ADD:
This was preceded with weeks of the program crashing when switching catalogs. The above method fixed that issue too.

Are you aware that you can specify the location for backup files? That location can be on any volume you choose. For example, I have a separate drive that I use for various backups and have specified that C1 store its backups there. I think the setting is in one of the preferences.
