Overlay struggles to follow crop

With C1 20 I was able to use a .png with crop guides as overlay, and when adjusting the crop, the overlay would follow the crop in real time.  Now that I've upgraded to C1 23, the overlay only follows the crop when I release the edge I'm adjusting.  In order to see if my overlay crop guide is where it needs to be, I have to release the mouse and let it catch up when adjusting the crop.  It actually makes it difficult to perform fine adjustments and adds a ton of extra clicking.  In other words, the problem is that the Overlay stays put when I'm moving the Crop, even though I have checked 'Follow Crop' and the Overlay only moves to catch up to the crop when I release the edge of the crop.
