Unable to make image adjustments

FirstName LastName

I have imported my CR3 image as new session, its visible on the screen, I  have created a new layer, when I  adjust the sliders, for example clarity and structure they move, but there is no physical change to the visible image, guessing I  am doing something wrong?

    Layers only work on those pixels which are in this layers's mask. Press M to see if any area or pixels are part of the mask, they would be overlayed with a red color.
