capture one keeps failing
Hi Im new to Capture one, but have been a Lightroom user for seven years. i am seriously considering cancelling C One as I cannot do a full edit without it freezing... spinning beach ball etc. am I doing something wrong? I use an iMac with 17.5 GB of Memory available

Do you use a catalogue? If so, how many images does it contain? And when, exactly, does Capture One freeze?

Hi, Thanks for reaching out. Yes to the catalogue and there are 700 wedding images. I've had to load it several times now. Spinning beach ball, complete freeze. getting really cheesed off now.

That's strange, 700 images really isn't that much. Have you tried verifying the catalogue?
If there are no issues with it, I suggest you contact support (though it often takes a while before you get a reply).

700 images in a catalog is not a lot, and you should expect that it would work fine.
What version of Capture One are you on, and what version of MacOS?
Where are your images stored - inside the catalog, in folders on an internal drive, on an external drive, or what?

Capture 23, MacOS Monterey and all images are on an external hard drive. Really appreciate your help Ian

is there anything i should have set up in my preferences before using perhaps?

I suppose it's possible that it doesn't like the external drive. Have you got space on your internal storage to test this by moving some images there and seeing whether they do better that way?
