CaptureOne vs Lightroom
I have used CaptureOne for more years than I can remember. Faced with again the slow adoption of new cameras, lack of tethering for Panasonic cameras and the push for subscription (high cost to renew perpetual) I have to ask is it worth it anymore? Convince me to stay vs going to lightroom and getting support for my S5II today.

C1 would send out discount code for loyal users today on February 14!!???! What they did not say is that the upgrade price for perpetual license would dissappear before the 14th of February!!!!
Yesterday I still had the option to upgrade for £199.00 today it is £299.00.
Not sure I can justify this kind of pricing as I don't need to upgrade straight away so I am looking at different options: Lightroom, DXO Photolab 6 (£100 cheaper for perpetual license and reasonable upgrade costs) also looking at Darktable! I won't be able to convince you to shell out this kind of money!

Looks like we are in the same boat. I waited to see like yourself and feel betrayed and tricked. With out support for my new camera it's even harder to justify. Makes you wonder what their thinking. Being a long time user it will hurt to change but just getting harder and harder to stay it's like a bad relationship.

If the value of the software for you is the same but the price increased and the licence conditions deteriorated then it is less worth it. Only you can answer if it is still worth it.
I will keep using v22 until I need a new version technically or for camera support or they come up with a feature which it is worth for me. I might then decide to switch to another app completely, but I don't take this decision now. I will not subscribe though.
I have bought a DXO PL6 license, I wanted to have it anyway for some of my high ISO images, but C1 is still my goto software for the majority of images.
I once tried darktable, kind of liked it and it is still installed, but the learning curve is really steep and it feels as if you need to move 3 times as many sliders and parameters as in C1 for a similar result.
