Automation for Windows (or mac + windows that is the same)

On Mac there is support for Applescript automation. 

Yet for windows, no such automation exists.

Provide a means to control the app via automation. Suggestions include:

- Support in app python/javascript scripting. (thereby making it cross platform)

- Expose an API that can be used to create automation (REST server)

    I support this one.

    1. Mac and Windows should have the same capabilities, is only fair.

    2. Scripting language should be platform independent.

    3. REST server interface would be tremendously helpful and would probably result in lots of user built add-ons

    While the (old) plug-ins may be useful for pixel peeping, a REST server would help in image management and viewing.
