Import issue HIF (by Canon R5)/ HEIF/ HEIC

Hi Community!

I'd like to edit HEIF files which are packaged as HIF files from a Canon R5. I tried to:

a) import the HIF file and

b) converted the HIF file to a HEIF file and then tried to import.

Unfortunately neither works.

Can someone help me to complete this challenge?

    Not if you want to complete it in Capture One - it simply doesn't support the Canon version of the format. To be fair, it isn't alone in that regard.

    I've had come success with ON1 Photo Raw 2023, for what it's worth: colours aren't perfect, but it will at least open a HIF file, allow editing, and saving in a format of your choice.

    (This is in Windows, but there is a macOS version too.)
