Did you activate the DB run mode ?

For Phase One's digital backs, use the free "DB" run mode (change it from the licence menu). Nothing to pay.

Capture One never modifies the RAW files. To modify EXIF data you'll have to use an external utility such as exiftool.

Well if your camera can be set to USB mass storage, whatever brand it is, then it will be seen as a card reader by the OS. So I don't see why it wouldn't work.
