Previous sessions not in Library drop-down list
Now only the last opened session is listed.
When starting Capture One with the option key pressed the window shows: "No recent catalogs or sessions" even though several sessions has been opened.
This happened after I cleared the menu in the drop-down list.
But I did not expect it to be cleared permanently.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

Clearing it means clearing it, I think. But it will gradually build up again as you open them by double-clicking them in Finder.

Hi Ian,
Maybe I didn't describe the problem clearly.
I cleared the menu aprox. 10 days ago, and since then I have opened several different sessions, but still only the last opened session is on the list.

How do you open the sessions?
How do you close the sessions?
There are different approaches for both. It is possible that different approaches give different results ... so useful to know what you do.

Grant,
Nothing have changed in the way I open/close a session before and after I cleared the menu.
And it is the is the same result no matter I use File>Open..., File>Open recent (which is empty) or if i double click on the cosessiondb file of a specific session.

Hi Bo,
I hear what you are saying but still there may be some differences in what happens and how the file is closed seems to be the most likely possible point of interest for a "Recent Files" list update.
The thing is though that if anyone is to try to replicate what you do to see whether they get the same result they really should be replicating what you do just as you do it at some point. Which is why I asked the questions.

Hi Grant,
Thanks for your response.
Normally I import pictures into a new session, whereafter this specific session is open/active, and thereafter used to be listed in Library drop-down menu.
Recent sessions I use to open from the drop-down meny.
If a session is not listed in the drop-down meny, I use to db.click on the cosessiondb file in finder for the specific session I want to work on.
I don't use to close a session, just opening another if needed. Only one session is shown.

Ok, so you have single session set rather than allowing multiple sessions.
As a test try closing the open session before starting a new one to see if you get different behaviour.
There are two close options that may work a little differently form each other - I'm not sure.
One is simply click the close application button (Is it a cross in a red box on a Mac like in Windows?)
The other is the 'Close Window' command in the 'File' menu.
It's possible that you don't see the Close Window option of the system preference is set to single instance of a session - not sure but you will soon find out.
It's also possible that Mac is different to Windows (which is what I use).
If none of the close options result in an update to the 'Recents'" list then maybe you would be best to raise a Support Case and ask the Support Team about the problem. Such things can often be related to specific circumstances and so not the same for everyone.
HTH.

Hi Grant,
Thanks again for your advice.
But unfortunately it didn't change anything.
As you suggest I will try to open a Support Case.
And I have an idea that it has nothing to do with settings, but maybe a file in a system folder that has to be deleted?
Thanks a lot for your help.

I think the feature, whether Mac or Windows, is just using an operator system function so yes, probably something like you suggest.

For your information, the Recent list is stored in the Capture One preference file (com.phaseone.captureone12.plist on Mac). In case Capture One has troubles writing to that file, recent documents are not added to the Recent list anymore. A solution is to delete the file and see if the solves the issue. 0 -
I know this is an old thread but is there a fix? Just to be clear, I work on many shoots in C1 thought-out the day. I used to be able to keep C1 open and just use the drop down to jump back and forth. Recently, I re-imaged my mac book pro M1 and reinstalled all apps from scratch. Same thing happens.

If you have re-installed Capture One, it will probably start off with an empty recent sessions/catalogs list. Over time as you work with sessions and/or catalogs the list will repopulate. But you can open any session or catalog without it being on that list. Either hold down Alt (Option on a Mac) when you open Capture One and then in the dialog box that appears choose Browse... or if you already have Capture On open, go the to File menu and choose Open... In either case find the catalog or session file you want. Once it has been opened it should appear in the recents list.

Thank you Ian Wilson, as I mentioned, although I re-installed C1 a few months ago, I used it daily, probably working on between 6-8 Sessions per day. In other words, this isnt a case of there not being recents because the sw is new. I would expect to see a list in the drop down after the first day after the first session. I understand I can use File Open and I understand i can just click on the C1 database in the Finder window. That is not what i want to do. I want to keep C1 open and jump between various shoots i happen to be working on without having to go find it in the file system.

But if you do use File>Open, do the sessions or catalogs that you open that way then appear in the list, or does the list not repopulate at all?

No, that is what I am saying,. I can use File Open and navigate to where ever my folder is. I can click the C1 file from whatever file to launch C1, not prob. But thats not what i want to to. In the past, I could use the drop down arrow under Libraries and jump right to my most recently used Sessions. It saves me a lot of time. Right under Libraries, you can see the name of your current Session right? To the right of that are these little Up/Down arrows. In the past, that drop down would contain all of my most recently used sessions. I could jump right to them. But only the current session is on that list.

If you go back to the OP @..., he describes my problem perfectly.

OK - so did you read Paul Steunebrink's suggestion of deleting the preferences file in case it has become corrupted so that Capture One has trouble writing to it? (The last post from 4 years ago.)

I tried looking for it but couldn't find it. Using C1 v23, on MacBook Pro M1 running Ventura V13.2.1. I couldn't find the file he referenced. Any one know where it is?

Dang, no joy. Didn't work. After I did what that page said, when I relaunched C1, it acted as if this was the first time so i was hopeful. But then after opening several Sessions, I only see the most recent one. :(

I stumbled on to the answer! The Recents in File>Open and under Library is now managed by your MacOS setting, not directly by C1 anymore!!! I had mine turned off. Now it's working perfectly. This was the article that fixed it. Thank you Ian so much for the assist!
