Metadata massive change
ImplementedPlease, provide a method to change metadata massively. The present method that uses User Presets in cumbersome e not very practical. I don't see why I should create a preset for every different combination of metadata that I want.
Thanks.

Hi Marco,
Thank you for feedback on Capture One - this is always welcomed and encouraged among our users and we appreciate the time you've taken to contribute towards the development of the software.
I have forwarded your comments and suggestions on to our Product Management team as something to consider in a future release.
Whilst we cannot comment on future releases, we take all suggestions on board and hopefully your feedback contributes towards a future version of Capture One.

Marco,
For the fields that are available for changes I don't really see why you would always need to create presets (or styles) for bulk changes.
Are you thinking of setting metadata values on import?
Is this something connected with tethering activity?

Hi,
what I mean is that if I selected 2+ pics and fill, for example, the IPTC field Picture_Country with "Italy" only one (the first) of the selected pictures gets the update.
Edit Selected is ON.0 -
Ah, right. So not necessarily Hundreds of parallel edits.
There are some slightly interesting considerations here and I suspect that the availability of extended length text fields in the IPTC structure probably does not fit too well with instantaneous updating for several files whilst live editing.
So things like numeric value changes can (+ or - a specific amount) or short text fields might be OK and Keyword updating can be managed by coding for how it is used and the potential for creating new Keywords on the fly, but field that might allow long text entries are not so good in terms of possible overhead management.
However, once you have populated One field you have at least 2 other options in addition to going down the Preset/Style route.
Firstly you can copy and paste form the populated field(s) in the already updated image to one or more addition images. Use the Clipboard functionality for that.
Or, if you make the relevant fields available as "Filters" (The most commonly fields are offered as a default starting point) on can select a single or multiple images and "drag" them over to the displayed filter field and populate the field that way.
In general I tend to find the "Filter" approach for the IPTC data is more usable for my purposes but the Clipboard approach also works and when I remember to prepare in advance if anticipating a large shoot, I will create a "Style" and load that to all images on import if there will be enough common fields for all images to make it work doing that way. I also tend to use Keywords that in some cases duplicate the EXIF fields. The keywords will often suffice for my needs but if the output demands IPTC field population then the KWs make matching file selections to IPTC needs quick and easy. In theory one should not need both but if exporting for a potentially wide possible audience on onward use I never feel comfortable assuming only IPTC OR Keywords will be sufficient. May as well do both.
Does this offer any immediate help for your IPTC data entry challenge?

Hi!
Thanks a lot for your extensive answer.
I'm new to C1, so I'd rather stay with Copy and Paste. However, when I read your sentence ("Firstly you can copy and paste form the populated field(s) in the already updated image to one or more addition images. Use the Clipboard functionality for that." I don't know how to do.
I'm a Windows user and I expect to put the mouse over a picture where I update the IPTC data, right click and to find something that says "Copy". But I don't find anything. And I don't find anything similar in the overall menu as well.
I also tried Adjustements > Copy Adjustements (I did not make any adjustement to the RAW file so far. I only added IPTC data), but then the Apply Adjustements remains disabled. Meaning that it did not copy anything.
Can you please, please, please help me thoroughly?

Marco,
The copy and paste functionality has many more options to give you control over the way you work and ways of refining selections as you work.
It's easy to use but a big subject to understand at first so that you can work out which parts of the functionality you will use a lot, which parts somewhat less and which parts hardly ever (bit it may still be useful to know that they exist.)
There will be some tutorial videos and some webinars and other sources that discuss the subject. I don't have a list of links.
The Help and User Guide functionality is a good starting point but it is worth pointing out that the Adjustment Clipboard tool is intended to work in the background unless you decide you want t see it at work.
I found it useful to make it visible in order to obtain a full understanding of what it does and how it does it. After that just hide it again and use the functionality via the arrows because you will know what is happening behind the scenes.
I would suggest you start here
https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002485038-The-Adjustments-Clipboard-overview
and be sure to also use the links at the bottom of that page.
There is also a Webinar video that cover the subject. It is from the time of Version 11 and there are some enhancements since then but the basic functionality, as far as I can recall, is the same so the video is probably still relevant today. (I have not watched it to check that statement but it should be very useful.)

If you start with those references things should become clearer. Also use the facility to add the Adjustments Clipboard tool to your screen as a Floating tool to make it easier to observe how it works.
Note that when you have the tool visible the "?" in the top line of the tool is an icon that will take you to the first link above.
The "..." tool icon to the right of the "?" is the "Action" icon and will offer some additional special features to allow you to refine the Copy and Paste functionality.
