Only Silver Effects Pro and Viveza were 'upgraded' to run as something other than a standalone app when called from Photolab.  This is similar to calling SEP from Photoshop as a plugin where a layer is built and options to brush the changes in exist. In the past, Photolab, Capture One, On1 Photo Raw and Affinity would call SEP as a standalone app so my guess is the designers of the upgrade just included 'Capture One' and 'On1 Photo' and made the call the same as Photolab. There was no clear understanding of why they checked for "Capture One" in the past, just continue to do so in the new code.  The rest of the apps in the Nik collection had little if any changes so they still work with Capture One and On1 Photo Raw. One of the workarounds in another post for Mac said to change the properties file to execute Capture One as Capture_One and all is well, though would not favor hacking C1's properties just to get SEP to work.  I requested and received a link to Nik 3 and an activation code so I reverted to the Nik 3 Collection.  After one support person said they would not look at the issue anymore and another said to close all apps if I want to run SEP as a standalone, I have decided to phase out DxO products.  There is nothing that can't be accomplished with C1, On1 Photo Raw, On1 Denoise etc. that DxO offers.

Thanks Ruediger. I've just installed both and can confirm that that is the case.
