Why design with "option" key to open catalog? often fail !!!!!!!!!!!!
Should caption one startup with press on "option" key?
I cannot change catalog...
I don't think it is compatible on M1 chip.
If still use "option", I will try other..

Which version are you using? 21.3 is supposed to be fully native for M1, and earlier versions of 21 worked under Apple's emulator, just not as fast as the native code.
If you always want to open a default catalog when C1 launches, just have that catalog open when you quit C1; the program should open the catalog(s) that were open the last time you quit it.
If you want to close your catalog(s) first, then when C1 launches it will show you a little window listing all of the catalogs you opened recently.
If you want to change catalogs, just use the File...Open command and navigate to the catalog you want. And if you have a lot of catalogs and want to pick which one to open, instead of opening C1, just double-click on the catalog in the Finder.
And the reason I said "catalog(s)" is because C1 can have multiple catalogs open at the same time.

With the exception of the Express version which I think can only deal with one catalog.

I use express version, often fail to change catalog.
Some previous catalog create before M1, does not support/ upgrade to new version compatible.CANNOT TEAMWORK !!!!!!!!!!
Why catalog also need to upgrade? now a lot catalog I create cannot open.
And make me wonder, what if I work with other but it would not open on different version/platform/computer of C1. It seem a lot inconveniently for a team work.
I do work as a team while use FCPX, and etc.
No matter how I prefer C1 than lightroom... inconvenient !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
C1 says only one single catalog is supported (right column). My interpretation is that you cannot change catalogs.

It seem my problem is 1 in a lot matter.
I can see a lot matter of other tread that I also have some of it .....
Though C1 seem simply and compete with lightroom, however it have some xxx.* It seem not a realtime save operating, while need to "backup" while closing window ?????????

No worries, all changes / edits are instantly stored.
The backup is what is says, a backup, and you can change the interval of this reminder dialog in the preferences>General.
Though C1 and LR compete in the same market, they are not exact replicants of each other. And the free Express version has limitations, but I would be interested what the free LR version has to offer... does it even exist?

I don't care what LR can do. C1 have this issue on me
1. I cannot change catalog with pressing "option" key.2. "upgraded" catalog to match new version C1-21, mostly fail to upgrade.
fortunately, I have picture files instead of saved in catalog.0 -
1. You cannot change catalog because you have the Express version (one single catalog is supported).
