Assisted Review, introduced as a beta feature in Capture One 16.8, uses AI to automatically flag images with common technical issues, such as closed eyes, missed focus, and exposure problems. This helps you move through a shoot more quickly and focus your attention on the images that matter most.
Assisted Review is designed to support your own judgement, not replace it, by highlighting potential issues early in the selection process.

How Assisted Review works
When Assisted Review is activated, Capture One analyses the selected images and automatically tags them if technical issues are detected. The analysis focuses on common culling problems, including:
- Closed or out of focus eyes
- Exposure issues (bad exposure)
These tags can be filtered directly in the browser, used as criteria for Smart Albums, and combined with star ratings and colour tags. This allows you to quickly narrow down a large shoot and organise images using multiple selection criteria.
The Assisted Review tool is located in the Library tool tab by default and is designed to integrate naturally into existing Capture One workflows.
You can also view Assisted Review as a part of the Filters tool:
How to use Assisted Review
- Open the Library tool tab and select Assisted Review.
- Select the images you want to review.
- Click Review Selected
- Let Capture One analyse the selected images.
- Once the reviewing is finished, you can use the generated tags to filter images, build Smart Albums, or combine them with star ratings and colour tags.
Every image receives a tag within the three categories – Need review, Issues Detected & Can't tell. If Capture One considers the image unaffected by any of the mentioned issues, it will appear under No Issues Detected.
