Answered my own question, it only applies the new profiles automatically to fresh imports into the catalogue. Quite right to, I might have done something specific to existing files that I did not want to unexpectedly change.

BTW be careful to check that distortion slider is set to 100 when using new profiles it does not always happen automatically.

"Capture One’s Distortion slider can be used to fine-tune either barrel or pincushion distortion correction, depending on the lens profile selected. The slider functionality automatically changes to suit the type of distortion. This is particularly convenient when the profile contains data for both barrel and pincushion distortion such as that found with zoom lenses."

Meaning, the Fuji lens profile you are using (lets say the XF 23MM F1.4) doesn't have any distortion information since the lens doesn't need any distortion correctionn.

However, if you shoot with a XF 27mm F2.8, you will notice that the distortion slider automatically goes to 100.

For quickly apply the correct lens profiles to the already imported images, created an smart album with a filter rule including only the desire lens.

After that, select the smart album, click on a picture, go to the lens correction tool, select the profile, copy the lens settings to the click board, select all the pictures within the smart album and paste the settings. Easy and quick.

I already did this to my entire collection, problem solved 😁

Nice tips, thanks to both of you. It's a pity that XF zoom lenses are not supported yet since I do most of my work with zooms. The vignetting is sometimes not sufficiently corrected with the manufacturers profile, creating pretty harsh dark corners.

I don’t understand why Capture One’s lense profiles would be better than the manufacture’s, in thus case Fuji. All the necessary corrections should be in the Metadata and CO1 only has to read it and make the adjustments. Am I missing something? I should mention that I come from Lightroom where the correction is an automatic process using the manufacturer’s metadata.

I was wondering about the same thing. Can the Capture One lens profiles be better than the Fujifilms metadata from the RAW file?

When you choose the "manufacturer profile", then Capture One does take the metadata from the RAW file. The lens profiles provided by Capture One are in addition to this. According to the website, the main difference is that the sharpness fall-off can be corrected.

When applying the 18-55 lens profile to my X-T1 images however, I cannot correct the light fall-off anymore, which is a bit strange. Also the distortions are corrected differently than with the manufacturer profile. I have opened a support case asking about these issues and may reply to this thread once I have an answer.

Well, this took some time. The light fall-off was fixed and does work now. The support suggested taking a picture of a brick wall and comparing the profiles ("manufacturer profile", embedded into the RAW file by Fujifilm, vs. the lens profile provided by Capture One). I found a wall in my cellar and took pictures at 18, ~22, ~35 and 55 mm.

Overall I like the Fujifilm profile a bit better. At 18mm, distortion was pretty much identical, but the Fuji profile had a bit more information around the borders, whereas the Capture One profile cut off a bit. At 23 and 55mm the distortion correction looked slightly better to me (but I was too lazy to lay lines over it), at 35mm there was not much of a difference.

Your mileage may vary, so I suggest you try it in case you are curious. If you need that sharpness fall-off slider however, you probably want to use the Capture One profile.
