Capture One 12 and On1 Photo Raw 2019.2 Roundtrip.
Hi...I just was working with my CP12 and trying to intergrate with On1 Photo Raw 2019.2 without the need for Adobe Photoshop. I was going through the help forum on ON1's site and found this question I wanted to forward that info to this site to see if Phaseone can solve this issue. I will copy and paste the original post here. If it has been solved can someone comment back. As of today there seems to be no answer.
"Roundtrip to ON1 Photo RAW from Capture One Pro
My complete library of images is in Capture One Pro but I generally roundtrip to Photoshop or On1 for content aware retouching and effects and the resulting version is returned back in Capture One beside the orginal. This still works perfectly with Photoshop but is no longer working with ON1. From Capture One I go to image ‘edit with’ and choose ON1 PhotoRaw 2019 and it gives the options of jpg, tiff, and psd. It prepares for export in the chosen file type then I press ‘edit variant’
It states preparing variant – then opens ON1 – ON1 flashes as if accepting the image from C1 but the image does not open! In the past it did and using the same procedure Photoshop opens the image perfectly, as does ‘Silver Efex Pro’
If in Capture One, I ‘edit with’ to Photoshop and then when in Photoshop, I go to ‘Filter’ – ON1, the image opens in ON1 perfectly. I can then use ON1, save back to Photoshop, then save back to Capture One.
This works – but is obviously a crazy workaround. I love so many things about On1 Photo Raw 2019, I hope I can soon use it again directly from Capture One.
I am using a 27″ iMac running Mojave 10.14.2 with Capture One Pro 12 , Photoshop CC, and ON1 PhotoRaw 2019.
There are so many things I love about On1 that I hope I can get back to using it directly from my Library in Capture One"

Hello all -
I just opened a ticket with support for this very issue, then came across this post.
If anyone has any new information or fix I would love to hear it.
I am using C1 20 on Windows and ON1 2019.
Basically, I choose "Edit with" in C1, select my settings (have tried tif and psd), the tif is created and ON1 opens. ON1 opens to the folder the tif is in but doesn't automatically select the tif for editing. If I go find the tif file in the folder and make some edits, they are not retained when I return to C1.
I also use Color Efex Pro 4 and that works without issue.0 -
I suspect that not opening the actual file is ON1 is a problem with ON1 (I have met it too) rather than with Capture One, since with other apps (Affinity Photo for instance) it manages to open the actual file. Maybe because ON1 has a library function and Affinity doesn't?

Based on the behavior of C1 I suspect the issue is on On1's side as well. The file is created and passed to On1, so that sounds logical. I do plan to open a support ticket with them to cover all bases.
Thank you0 -
I used the same workflow as OP for a few months last year and had the same problem with the exported tif not opening. The problem is definitely with ON1.
As a workaround - once C1 creates the tif and sends it to ON1 are you not able to drag and drop the tif's icon from C1 to ON1? I can't test this for you because I have removed ON1 from my system, but I seem to recall doing this.0 -
Well, as a workaround, using Edit in... and specifying ON1 at least opens ON1, and then you can navigate to the file and one it.

NNN636442823308421079 and Ian - Thanks for the suggestions, but the issue isn't getting ON1 to see the tif, or even the ability to work on the tif with ON1. The issue is the full round-trip. I guess I could use ON1 as the final stop in the workflow, but that isn't really what I am looking to do.
To update since my last post, ON1 responded to my ticket by simply saying they do not support round-tripping with C1. Period. No suggestions, no explanation, nothing.
Honestly it is lazy, we don't really care responses like this from ON1 support that drove me to C1. I guess I should be thanking them. I am extremely happy to be using C1.
I opened a ticket with C1 on Jan 2 and have yet to get a response.0 -
Nonetheless, even if ON1 doesn’t actually support round-tripping, you should be able to do what you want in ON1, then import the resulting file into C1.
