Keystone malfunction (request #15943)
The issue is the regular malfunction of the keystone adjustment tool when making simultaneous vertical and horizontal adjustments using the four adjustment points. The expected result of such adjustment is a rectangle with two horizontal and two vertical sides, but instead of this you often get a parallelogram in which the sides that were supposed to be vertical aren't actually vertical.
Below is a part of what I've sent to support.
. . .
What I expect the keystone correction tool to do is the following:
Regardless of the content of the photo, and regardless of where or how you place the four adjustment points, as long as you have a four-sided figure, the result of applying corrections should be a rectangle with two completely horizontal and two completely vertical sides. Again, the content of the photo is irrelevant here, and so is the distortion that may result from the adjustment (extreme settings will produce extreme results with most other adjustment parameters as well). If for some reason C1's keystone correction tool doesn't work in this way, it should at least be stated clearly in the user guide along with a description of what it can and what it can't to do.
That you may be able to produce the desired result using the adjustment sliders is another matter. The main point here is that keystone correction using the four adjustment points produces unexpected results. If this is due to a limitation in what the keystone tool is able correct, it should be stated in the user guide, so users would know what results to expect – preferably with an explanation of why the tool is limited in this way, when corresponding tools in other RAW editors do not have such limitations. If this limitation isn't intended, I assume the tool isn't working as it should, and I hope that it will be fixed in the next update.

of course you will not get informed when they will publish an update.
But more people complain, more we have a chance to see this problem get fixed, which looks not to be a priority right now...

"of course you will not get informed when they will publish an update" – I didn't expect that; what I was after was just a confirmation that they're actually working on it (as opposed to the usual evasive replies).

8 months and not a word.

I very often encounter this problem with the keystone tool: unexpected results, that is to say a parallelogram when I want a rectangle. Phase One should really fix this unworthy issue.

Indeed they should.

Unsurprisingly, this still isn't fixed in version 21.

report report report!

Another good reason not to buy version 21...

Today I was trying to use 4 Way Keystone correction tool but experience was frustrating. It is shame that C1 adamant not to solve the key user issues.

Thomas, thanks for lettings us know and yes the issue is unsolved, just did a test and yes it is unbelievable ! 4 way keystone is for sure the least used option of the 3 and it is a clear pattern that issues which will only affect a small groupe of user are simply ignored by the fine people of phaseone, i could even understand this a little when we would see other worthwhile improvements. but I do not know any other imaging software company today which has such a bad level support, ignores issues brought up again and again and is totally uninterested in what user have to report.

Unfortunately this issue isn't restricted to simultaneous vertical and horizontal keystone adjustment, I've also seen it with vertical adjustment.
As suggested above, it's a good idea to report it. At least they'll know then that users are affected by it.
Have a look also at this request for an improved keystone tool.

actually I do use adobe and now also dxo more and c1 just for what works. all this reports and suggestions are a waste of time because this company ignores them anyway. no company which really values their customer does act like this you should have already learned that and the outlook is unfortunately also negative.

I still maintain the hope, possibly too optimistic, that eventually, if users keep bringing this problem to their attention, something will happen.

...good luck !

Thanks, I'll probably need it.

To be totally fair, Thomas, as I, received a personal message from the person in charge, Jeff.
Apparently, not everybody experienced this problem, and not with every RAW, generated by different types of camera.
They need our help to figure it out, sending to them the problematic RAW files, even better the EIP files.
I consider that reporting (massively) and helping with sending files will help better.0 -
I've sent quite a few examples by now, screenshots + raw files (all from Canon DSLRs). I assume they've received examples from other users as well as I'm clearly not the only one affected by this issue. They've stated more than once that they intend to do something about, though it doesn't appear to have much priority.

Yet another update and still no fix. How many years is it going to be?
. . .
A request for information: here.

This seems to STILL be a problem in 15.3.1 on July 2022.
