UI text size on 4K monitor

This is not a unique problem to C1.
I have seen the same complain on video editing forums, where someone gets 4K monitor and the UI becomes unusable.

In my opinion the problem/solution is in DPI of the UI.
All programs written for windows use 'system font' as guide for constructing UI. Everything is scaled according to 'system font' setting. If as you say, you are now working with 4K monitor: Do you find all programs (not only C1) to have very small / unusable UI? If yes, then I would bump up the windows text size and you should find that all programs will benefit from that.

Open 'Control Panel' then select 'Display' and there select 125% or 150% text size. Let it do it's log-out/log-in and restart C1 to see if the adjustment is workable. If 125% or 150% is not enough or you want exact control then click on 'Select custom text size', there you can scale the text from 100% up to 500% in 1% steps.

C1 doesn't respond to that setting. That's the problem.

    Interesting...

Here is C1 at 100% (default font size) on my system (24" 1920x1080 display)

and here is C1 with font set to 300% (on the same display)

Just to support what Rob says. I had a similar problem on my 12 inch laptop with 1920x1080 display. Windows was set to 150% and Capture One was nice!y readable on the display but not all the panels would show, the cure for that problem was to set scale in Windows 10 to 100% when everything showed but was also very tiny.

I'm guessing I'm not the first person to bring this up. Is there any 'setting' in C1 that affects this? Is PhaseOne going to do anything about it? I realize this could be tough to address at this point in the life cycle of a big software product, but there's no getting around it - it's a bullet that has to be bit.

You need a 4k monitor that is physically larger so that your system can display the text characters at a human readable size (mildly adjusted from a "normal" expectation to suit your personal eyesight requirements if necessary) using the same number of (larger) pixels.

Or sit closer to the screen - but in general that is probably not a great idea.

A second screen might also work in many situations providing you system configuration could successfully either support two screens of the same basic resolution but running at different resolutions or using different Text scaling in Windows OR support 2 screens of different resolutions without taking a hit on display performance.

There may be other options that could help somewhat but probably not enough to satisfy all possible opinions.

    HTH.

Quick comment without diving to much into your description...I had similar experiences as I mistakenly used a dvi single link rather a dvi dual link cable!
