In the import images dialog you can set one or more presets or styles, which will be applied at import.

Thanks Paul, yes I know it's possible to do it that way, but that doesn't help if one is using another application for import.
C1 sucks at import if you want to rename the files. The renaming is random and not chronological as in for instance Photo Mechanic. At least that was the case with C1 7 haven't tried it in 8 yet.

I can see it is possible to set for example exposure as a camera default in C1 but not white balance or tint??

    Peter,

As a workaround, you could set a fixed white balance in your camera..?

Ingesting the files from a card (copying to your HD of choice, organising in folders and optionally renaming, tagging, keywording....) and importing the files into the catalog are two different tasks which can be done entirely with CO or with two different tools (as I do). Nobody prevent you to ingest your files using Photo Mechanics and then import the same into the Capture One Catalog applying the import preset of your choice.

Paul, yes I could that, but actually it more the tint I find need quite a bit of adjustment.
I use Daylight WB in the back (IQ160) and that sets the WB in C1 to 5500 and the tint to 0. I find I need to go to 5600 Kelvin and a tint of 5.0 to get a more natural look.

    Good point Ario, thanks...
I don't use C1 Catalog though but merely one big session and just use the file browser.

I think the quickest and most flexible option would be to save your preferred settings as a preset and then apply the preset to all the files in a folder as soon as you open the folder in the session. That should work well and be quick too.

    HTH.
