The UI fixes I was waiting for...

Hi,

Just installed v12 and had a look to the list of requested fixes for UI problems I had reported years ago and that were supported by other users (see ):

12-26-2015 - External editors setup : Nothing done
12-31-2015 - Editable color labels : Nothing done
01-08-2016 - Print settings not sticky : Nothing done
02-19-2016 - Assigning a recipe to a specific file : Nothing done
12-04-2016 - Grid overlay type in Preferences (odd) : Nothing done
UI font size : slightly bigger but still not editable
Better dual monitor support (Windows) : Nothing done

Now I should pay about 150 euros for getting radial and linear gradient masks (already there in other software since a long time), luminosity masks, a "new refined" UI (please, is that a new interface ?) and an enhanced keyboard configurator ? Kidding me ?

I have loyally upgraded over the years since version 9 in the hope that eventually, they would pay attention to the quirks making the user's life harder than it should be. They just don't listen and therefore, they'll don't get my money this time. I'm not a cash cow, after all.

And, as usual, the documentation link in the Help menu points to an obsolete version (C1 11).

    i can add one multi monitor UI issue.

    when i place the menus on the right side of the screen and i press the three "..." dashes nothing happens.

    because capture one wants to display these menus on the second monitor.
    but the second monitor is not always on in my case.

    so when i press these dashes or other menu items next to the right monitor border, nothing seems to happen.

    it should display the menus that popup on the left side of the dashes, not on the right side.
    or C1 should check if the second monitor is actually on.


    sorry for my english. i hope it is clear what i mean.

    Agreed, I've been paying for upgrades for some time, just upgraded to v11 a couple months ago, and now a very very steep increase in pricing? Hopefully most people hold off on upgrading right away and it forces PhaseOne to reconsider how much they charge.

    And not just UI, but things like keywording: what happened to the long awaited upgrade to be able to specify keywords not to be exported, and also synonyms?

    It's a big ask, paying quite a price for an upgrade and still being left to open my exported images in another editor just to manage keywords better... I shake my head in almost despair.

    So many improvements, and yet, some of the very basic things we've been asking for still haven't made it in. It is such a great package, but these omissions are starting to hurt. ☹️

    This is very poor! There are several known Problems with the catalog in the windows version since years. Good customerservice is this not and like written before, very very poor.

    the new keyboard-shortcut manager is still buggy. Like the version 11:

    pressing DEL moves the pic into trash-folder without prompting. While editing pics it happens that you press DEL unintentionally 😡

    The shortcut-manager offers
    ALT-DEL: move to trash
    CTRL-DEL: delete from HDD.

    How to avoid that DEL moves the pic to trash?

    Whenever a try to assign a new command to the DEL-key C1 reports that DEL is already given to another command and will be changed now. But nothing changes: pressing DEL always deletes the PIC.

    Is that true? In Preferences there is a new Plugins section. The only plugin there at the moment is called Open With Menu and you can select or unselect check boxes for apps you want to appear when you go for Open With or Edit With. I have tried selecting or unselecting external apps (such as Affinity Photo) and I can confirm that it does affect what I am offered when I choose Open With or Edit With.

    Could not agree more. Seems Phase is following the trend of offering less for more $ (far more $). I am sitting out for the foreseeable future. I'm already using my last version of Photoshop, I can easily extend that policy to C1.
