If you are addressing Phase One then please create a support case as this is a User to User forum.

To answer your question, with ANY new Operating System it is best to wait until a specific software is provided which explicitly states the OS in question is supported. There is no need to rush into the latest OS as you gain little but a headache, remember how much fun Apple made it for everyone with the first release of the Lion OS? 😉

....so every major release of c1 is bug free and perfect ? the golden master from Ml is already out but i'm sure you
will wait for your customers to do the testing as always, right ?

Lets be fair here. Is every release of the Apple OS "bug free and perfect"? No.
Does Phase One have insider knowledge as to what Apple is planning/programing and implimenting? No.
Does Phase One own every single make/model of every Apple System to test? No.

We are of course preparing for the Mountain Lion Operating System as best we can and have tested it under numerous workflow scenarios. We have tested the present Mountain Lion release available from Apple but cannot offer guarantees that something will not change between now and a final release (as it has been known to do), nor can we guarantee that every workflow will work with the changes Apple has made.

As the OP asked a simple question I hope only offer a simple answer to make sure their transition into the new Operating System with Capture One is as stress free as possible.

Based on past experience, there is typically an OS update available shortly after the initial release (July 25th) to fix the bugs that even Apple cannot account for. As such, we will release a version to support Mountain Lion very soon and following Apple's lead, will likely follow up with a service release should there be any unforeseen conflicts.

As always, thank you for your patience.

I think that Drew's response was very reasoned and reasonable.
No new OS or software is bug free and trying to test all the parameters is horribly difficult even if you have automated testing. Testing by humans in a logical manner is next best but is down to people seeing anomalies.

Yes some of us like to have bleeding edge kit wand software but it does cost us headaches and downtime.
I have a Snow Leopard install that I am very happy with but I also intend to also test my CapturePro install on Mountain Lion asap and soon upgrade some of my Snow Leopard machines to Lion before I ever think of using ML for everyday work.

This question is asked every time there is a new OSX version, and the answer remains the same every time.

    Wait.

Phase does tests on the dev release, things work fine. Apple changes something somewhere and everything breaks. We wait until 10.x.1 for a fix.

If you rely on this stuff for a living and you have a solid running setup, of course you're not going to risk everything by updating. In fact, the people doing this in the real world still run 10.6.8

Let the rich hobbyists to be the guinea pigs.

Just a thought Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 works tethered.
What have Adobe been able to do that Phase One have not?

Looking at several different Forums there are issues in Lightroom on Mountain Lion, issues with Canon EOS utilities in Mountain Lion, issues with Photoshop in Mountain Lion, etc... To address your comment specifically, older Canon cameras can shoot tethered into Lightroom on Mountain Lion without issue (as you can with Capture One 6.4.2) but the newer generation of Canon Cameras (ie Canon 5D Mark III) is still not supported in Lightroom.

As such, if your are using a Canon 5D Mark III, again upgrading to Mountain Lion is not suggested.

I'd also point out that even Canon EOS Utilities seems to be having some issues on Mountain Lion.

As I stated in the beginning, no OS adoption is without conflict.

Just tested the 6.4.2 with Mountain Lion, and yes it works. I got the information from German Phase One Support that as the Canon SDK which supports the 5D Mark III is not mountain lion compatible 6.4.3 isn't either. But as Drew said and I just tested 6.4.2. is.
It seems that Canon SDK's before they added the 5D III are compatible and the new one (with 5D Mark III Support) isn't.

Does one has experiences with the Canon 1Dx as I will receive mine this week?

    thanks
    Frank

P.S. Drew - can you give me access to the POCP Forum? (Certified in November 2011, Frank Werner, Puchheim, Germany)

    Not quite correct.

    Just to clarify...
The New Canon SDK lists 10.6.8 - 10.7 as the supported Mac OS's. That is NOT to say that 10.8 is "unsupported" but at the time of the Canon Release 10.8 didn't exist. So, let's not say that it is "not mountain lion compatible", just that it simply isn't tested. This is a very important distinction which we will allow Canon to address!

In regard to 6.4.3, it IS Mountain Lion compatible, as noted in the release notes. However, there do seem to be discrepancies between the prerelease version of Mountain Lion we built the software for and the final release. As such, the software IS supported on Mountain Lion but if you come across any strange behavior we would request that you report it through a support case.

I just installed ML on my personal computer and I'm really liking it. Absolutely no headaches installing it and using it with my usual programs. I haven't switched over my work computers yet but I'll likely wait for Apple and Phase to work out any kinks. I just got Lion working properly with all the drives we use, I don't need anymore headaches at work.
