Lens Correction Preset - "Generic Pincushion" not saving!

It works for me on Windows - albeit I used 52% to make it easier to see when testing.

Applying the adjustment as a preset is a little odd though. If the default profile is left as Generic and the User Preset is applied the outcome is not quite as required. Setting Generic Pincushion as the profile works, presumably as intended.

It seems a little odd to me to be able to select a preset for a specific type of adjustment but still allow completely the opposite type of adjustment in the default selection box. I can't think of a reason for wanting both at the same time - or at least not one that I think would be likely to work!

Does this help you at all?

SFA - I'm a little confused at your answer.

See, for this lens (Tamron 16-300mm) a "Generic" setting does the opposite of the correction required. To fix my images shot at the 16mm end I need to do a "Generic Pincushion" Distortion correction of 2%.

I wanted to create a Preset for "Generic Pincushion Distortion 2%" and easily apply it to each of these images. But, when I set Profile to Generic Pincushion and Distortion to 2% and save it as a preset then try to apply it to another image, the 2% isn't recorded in the preset. When applying the preset to image #2, the Profile gets switched to "Generic Pincushion" (as expected as this is saved in the preset) but Distortion stays as 0% (not expected as the saved profile has 2% set in it).

The weird thing is, as I've said before, when I roll my mouse over my new preset in the drop down, the image is previewed correctly with a 2% Generic Pincushion correction, but when I select the preset, nothing changes in the image (because the 2% isn't applied correctly).

Does my question now make more sense?

I understand what you are doing.

When I experimented with it (in Windows) I found some interesting oddities that, for example, left the default as Generic but applied the saved "User" pincushion version as a stacked Pre-set on top of it (I think - as you might imagine it was not so easy to be certain.

Changing the Profile to Generic Pincushion and THEN applying the User Preset I had saved works each time.

If I apply the User preset without changing the profile type it appears that the adjustment percentage is applied to the "Generic" profile. The change to the Pincushion profile does not seem to happen - so I have to change the default profile type first and then apply the pre-set.

Odd I think and probably not quite right but I have a way around the problem in Windows should I need it. It seems that you see something different happening in your Mac. Is that correct?

    Aha!

OK, so if I change it to "Generic pincushion distortion" first THEN apply my preset it sticks the Distortion amount at the value I chose.

If I leave it as "Generic distortion" and apply my preset that uses "Generic pincushion distortion" the Profile changes to "Generic pincushion distortion" but the value for Distortion doesn't get applied.

This MUST be a bug. What's the point of a preset if it doesn't change all the values for the tool's parameters?

    Thanks!

In my Windows system apply the saved preset does not change Generic to Generic Pincushion - so it seems different to how you are seeing things on the Mac.

So yes, it does seems to be a bug but at least there is a sort of work around although the workaround might not be great if you wanted to apply the adjustment to a batch of images. I have not checked but suspect it might be a challenge.

I've pasted a link to this discussion in my Tech Support ticket so the PO people see that the bug works differently depending on OS.

Great discussion. Thanks for the help.

I put this to PhaseOne as a support ticket and they replied that they will try to get this fixed soon. They agree that it's a bug (and only reproducible on the Mac version).

    I sure like PhaseOne's support!
