This is a firmware limitation in the a7R and we are awaiting camera firmware updates from Sony. Watch this space I guess...

I am frustrated, too. It is in the feature list, but it does not work ☹️
When can we expect the firmware update from Sony?

I think you best address this question to Sony.

experienced this too, thought this is just the old "new version new bugs game " but know it seems it is just another sample of a company who does not take their customers serious. sure it is not their time wasted in searching to solve this issue. in my case i tried clean installs and did test it on 2 different macs.

Which bit of "this is Sony's fault" did you not understand?

sorry, forgot p1 is always right - i also never understand peoble like you. do you have a a7r or are you just working as a self appointed c1 sheriff here in your free time ? i´m also not aware the sony has bought p1 and capture one is now a sony product. so what is so difficult to understand to make a correct release notes ?

Let's elaborate a little. It is only a problem with the a7r firmware update 1.10, which is why we cannot do much at our end.

Christian, the release notes are perceived by users to not reflect reality. PhaseOne has to deal with that fact, or loose credibility.

    Cheers,
    Mogens

They do, yes. For release timings, you will have to contact Sony.

you know this all when you released your update announcing sony live view support and you probably also know that especially the a7r is the one which is most used in studio environment where liveview is very welcomed ? i always have the impression that your software only customers are second class so it is logical that you don't care giving wrong informations and than blame it on the other party like you are used doing with apple... what a complacent attitude.

I just checked. I have Firmware 1.02, so I have not upgraded to 1.10 and it doesn't work. Any ideas?

Don't hold your breath waiting for a firmware update from Sony. They take FOREVER. Might as well exclude the A7r from the live view compatibility list.

I have firmware 1.0.1 and am running C1 on a windows 7 laptop.
    The live view feature works!
    There are some limitations.
The live view doesn't fill the preview area. I'm guessing it is the pixel area of the rear LCD of the camera mirrored somehow.
The zoom doesn't work through C1, but if you zoom to 100% directly on the camera, the same view is mirrored via live view.
The main message is that live view IS possible with the A7r, and that it should be possible for Sony to iron out the bugs that make it not work in the newer firmware. It seems that there might also be a way for Phase to give us a 100% view in the future given that the camera can send it.
    It's great progress.
    Cheers

i am another A7r with fw 1.10 victim. is there any word on when this malady will be fixed? Phase One did a great job deciphering undocumented Sony protocols and behavior to get some A7 cameras working with Capture One, Now if only they can crack this firmware obstacle.

Have you contacted Sony already for their plans on a firmware update?

Sony have updated the a7r firmware to 1.20. Has anyone tried it for tethered live view with C1?
    I would love to know!
I am still running the original firmware. I wont upgrade until I know this feature works on the new firmware.
    Cheers

Would be interesting to know. Maybe you can get more info from the support department:
    http://www.phaseone.com/SupportMain.aspx

Would also be nice if you could share if any news surfaces.

Hi, I have just updated to 1.2 and it has broken tethered live view in C1 8.2.1

I think the issue here is not so much "It doesn't work" as:

Can Phase One please document issues like this in a "Known Problems" section of the release notes, so that users are informed of it without having to waste time troubleshooting a problem they can't fix?

so a 1/2 year later and live view support for the sony a7 cameras is still a joke ! no support for the a7r at all and crippled features for the rest.
