Catalog backups - deleting old ones and location of current?

I'm trying to maximize space on the drives I use for photos and see that Capture One catalog backups are taking up quite a bit of it. They are stored in dated directories, so I assume it is OK to delete as many of the older ones as I feel comfortable deleting?

Also, where is the "current" or "in use" catalog stored? The location for backups is specified in the "settings / preferences" section of C1, but not sure where the working copy is kept.

EDIT: Also have a few old catalogs that I'd like to delete but don't see a way to do it - these may reference some image files that I have in my current catalog though, so I don't want to endanger those actual raw files - just the catalog info in C1.

  It is safe to delete any back-up catalog you believe you do not need anymore.
  In the Library tool tab, at the top, the name of the catalog in use is shown, placing the cursor ove it the complete path is also shown.
  As long as the catalogs are referenced (raw files are not stored inside the catalg itself) it is safe to delete any catalog you do not need, the raw files will not be affected.
