How much memory do you have?

Have you tried re-booting the machine?

Does the Event log (C1 or Windows) suggest anything that would be worth investigating?

If Re-boot does not help I would suggest you create a Support Case and provide the requested log files so that the Support Team can try to help out - but you may not get a response until Monday.

To make sure, you're using version 11.x right?

Version 10.1.x had a major memory hole when generating previews, although I haven't seen any similar issue since.

Create a new catalog and import a small section of images to see if it's perhaps something corrupted with your C1 installation.

    Thanks for replying:

@SFA, I have 64GB of memory so don't think that memory is the issue. I have also rebooted the machine to no avail. Your third suggestion re Event Log may be an issue. In the Capture One Event Log, I am getting error messages related to 4 specific files. The error message is "Proxy Creation Failed. Unable to create proxy, for image F:\Pictures\iii.... .dng. The image file may be damaged or otherwise unable to load." I have removed the offending files, but am still getting the error. I have also opened a support ticket so hopefully this week I will hear something.

@gusferlizi, You are correct, I am running version 11.x. Re your suggestion of importing a small section of images, I have done this without incident, so I think that the Capture One installation is ok.

You're working on DNG files? How come?

@Bobtographer - No to your question. Long ago while using Lightroom, I converted some of my canon files to DNG. I have long ago stopped that practice but those DNG files were still on my computer. When I was importing all of the image files on my computer into CaptureOne so as to have an overall catalog of images, the DNG files were part of that import. Thanks.

There is one other aspect that occurs to me.

C1 has some constraints on both minimum and maximum files sizes. Details in the release notes.

Since it seems clear that the process can work it may be that there are some odd files being imported (in addition to the DNGs?) that are problematic.

It should be possible to check quite quickly for very large or very small files and exclude them from the import then see what happens.

If you are already processing in smaller sets of files you may strike lucky and hot a problem early in that project with a small group of files that make identification of a problem somewhat easier. That said, hopefully the Support Team will get back to you quickly with some suggestions for the reason for the problem.

    I

Just a comment all my 37000 odd files are DNG converted from original RAWs from different cameras ranging from D1H to Fuji X1Pro and Capture One has no problem at all with any of them.
