Exclude duplicates...
I use CP to catalog my iPhotos/Photos library.
with CP10, I could just point it to the folder inside the library that represented imports for this year, click Import All, and CP10 would automatically scan the folder, importing all new images.
CP11 seems to be different. if I click Import All without waiting for CP11 to complete the scan of the folder, it only imports the images in the preview window. is this true? if so, it's very inconvenient having to wait until CP11 scans all 10,000+ photos before I can click the Import All button.
and... how is the Exclude Duplicates function different to what CP10 was doing? is it comparing the actual image content of the images as it imports them? not just comparing by location and name?
btw, Exclude Duplicates can get very slow, averaging a few seconds per image after having compared 2000 images.
cheers

Hi Gregory,
There no change in the way or sequence that CO determines what files to import from 10 to 11.
The "Exclude duplicates" functionality works on different tiers, which includes file-size and hashing of the raw files.0 -

thank you for the info. would CP11 also be comparing hashing of non-RAW files; eg, jpg?0 -
