No, you can import directly on the album of your choice.

Am switching from Aperture to C1. I haven't imported my Aperture library yet and will wait until I get comfortable with C1. So the question is, images can only be dragged and dropped into albums, projects, or groups, correct?

I ask, because in Aperture one could import into an existing project. In C1 it seems you import into the Catalog (recent imports) and then sort and drag the images into any albums, project, or groups. Is drag on drop the only way to do this?

In Aperture, photos are stored in projects.

In C1, all photos are stored in the catalog with albums being the primary organizational tool. C1 projects and groups are just organizational structures used to group albums - you cannot drag photos or store them in projects or groups.

In this way, C1 makes a bit more sense. All the photos are in one large container and you can simply slice and dice the views of them however you like.

So when you import photos into C1, your choices are to import them to a selected album, or to just import them to the catalog and organize them into albums later.

When you migrate an Aperture Library, albums come across in-tact while photos stored in Aperture Projects get put into a C1 Album since C1 cannot store photos in projects.

Thanks. That clears it up for me.
