Renaming files crashes C1Pro
I installed C1pro without any problems but I can't get any further ๐คฌ
When I load a session I do three things before even starting to process the images
1) Make sure they are sorted by date
2) Add my copyright
3) Rename all of the files
1 and 2 work fine but as soon as I try to rename all of the files C1 crashes after renaming the second file ๐
Any suggestions greatly welcomed.

Hi Steve,
No, I don't think so, as from v3.7 onwards I have felt like a bit of a beta tester for Phase One ๐ค
From version 5 onwards the bugs have been getting progressively worse and from reading the posts here it look like v7 is going to be the buggiest release yet ๐คญ
I have used C1 from the beginning and I do very much like the look of the converted files, I personally don't think v7 is ready for prime time.0 -

I completely understand. I haven't been using there products for very long but run into a few glitches and read about all the pain that some people are having. It's a shame too, C1 has so much potential. Maybe PO should think about adding some more prerelease testers to squash a lot more of the bugs before releasing a new version.0 -

Do these things in a different sequence, rename first before doing anything else.
And, since this is a user-to-user forum, it's appreciated to update all of us on the findings.0 -

I have deleted the session and started from scratch, I tried renaming the files first but it still crashes C1 every time I try.
I can convert the raws, rename single files etc: without it crashing but as soon as I try to batch rename it crashes instantly.
To me batch renaming is a basic feature and in the past it has caused C1 to get quite slow but it's never crashed like this before.
I really don't know what to try next โ0 -
Have tried setting your preferences to never for open cl? 0 -

Hi Steve, that's the first thing I tried,no luck sadly ๐0 -
Where are your sessions and files stored? Are the files in a session favorite? 0 -
This has helped me in the past: Let CO create all the previews/initial settings, then exit the program. Restart and do your renaming, and again exit the program. Restart again and do your edits. Drink lots of coffee. 0 -

Hi Rick, they are both stored on my iMac's hard drive and yes they are in a session favorite.0 -

Hi coach, I have tried this, I went even further though and deleted everything, all session and raw files ,in fact everything relating to v7 ๐ค
I then copied the raw files back to my hard drive again and let v7 do it's thing again, sadly it still crashes on batch renaming โ
Drink lot's of coffee you say, I'm on the hard stuff already ๐0 -
Move the files to the Shared user folder and rename the Capture One folder in application Support folder. This forces C1 to reset workspaces keyboardshortcuts and recipes etc. 0 -
Got the same problem here, when I try a batch rename, it crashes.....
C1 7 on Mountain Lion0 -

Well, at least I'm not alone ๐0 -
Yeah, it's quite a shame, such a great quality in image processing and such stupid bugs ๐ 0 -
BTW: Open CL is disabled, makes no change
Deleted the C7 plist file -> working again, very strange0 -

Are you saying that when you delete the plist file you can batch rename โ0 -
Yes, that's right, I deleted the plist file, starte C1 again, of course I had to do my settings again like disable Open CL etc. and after that I imported a couple of pictures and was able to do the rename process.... 0 -
Wow, I hope it works for me, I will try it when I get home tonight.
Thanks for the tip.0 -
Ok, I tried again, but now it failed. It seems to work only after the first start after the plist file has been deleted,
so thumbs down for my solution.....0 -
Thanks anyway, I hope someone comes up with a solution to this batch renaming problem, P1 you listening ๐ 0 -
I have managed to rename my raw files, well sort of ๐
After much farting around deleting just about everything ie plist, sessions, cos files etc, reinstalling v7 twice! I have managed to batch rename the raw files ๐ค
How you ask, well, I created a new session file with a different name (using the same session name did not work โ ) I then selected all files, set the rename counter to 1 and ran the batch rename process, to my joy, and amazement โ๏ธ C7 started renaming them without crashing.
This took a couple of minutes and when finishes my files were all renamed ๐ 140 files all renamed without error? no, don't be silly ๐
There were 140 raw files and yes, all were renamed BUT, in increments of 3 ๐ญ it renames the first file correctly ie "filename 0001" then it renames the second one "filename 0004"? and from there on it renames them in increments of 3
so they are batch renamed "filename 0001,4,7,10,13,16,19 and so on?
Still better then crashing eh, I have tried renaming three times and it works like this every time ๐0 -

I haven't used V7 all that much - just process a few images here and there (don't see a difference yet)
but if it is truly messing up the batch rename like that - that is pretty funny. I really wonder about the beta testing.0 -
I renamed one file and now the program crashes every time I try to use it. Program is now useless. 0 -
First see if the settings and previews were renamed properly.
Try deleting the setting file .cos and perhaps the preview. Hopefully that will let you start over with it.0 -
I want to use version7 so I ended up importing and renaming in ver.6 and then opening in 7. I hope this is one of the first things to be fixed.
BTW, it is easy to see that it was rushed out the door probably for the NY Photoshow. I am running it in trial mode but the trial mode window is overridden by the application trying to open files and half the time I am desperately clicking on the trial radio button with no result.0 -
same problem here.
capture one is useless with bugs like this.
I need to use "a better rename" to rename my raws.
system: mac os 10.8.2.
capture one 70 -
I'm actually trying to use Version 7 as much as possible because I like it so much. As long as I work around the renaming issue and deal with the odd crash or two, I can handle it because I love the new HDR sliders compared to previous versions. 0
