Export image and import

Could any one tell me what is the best way to send a raw file to the retoucher and import it back again in the catalog?

    process it to tiff or jpeg and invoke external program from process recipe.

    Then, i think, you can refresh the directory where the image is to get back the processed file.

    Others will help here (i don't use catalogs).

    Thanks, but I dont want to use tiff and certanly Jpegs. The idea is to go from one C1 to another and then back in in Raw

    Using a raw developer (CO in this case) to export a raw file to a retouching SW and getting back a raw file is quite an intriguing wokflow but understanding it is way over my capability.
