Keyword confusions
I use Photo Mechanic to add keywords to several images that are also in a C1 catalogue (C1 is closed as I do this). I close Photo Mechanic, then re-open it to verify that the keywords have been assigned. They have been (Photo Mechanic uses XMP files for this purpose). I close it, then open C1. The XMP-wise preferences set for C1 just now include: Image / Metadata / Auto sidecar XMP: Load. Both Prefer Embedded XMP and Prefer Sidecar XMP are checked.
Begin confusion:
1) The catalogue opens in C1. The newly added keywords are now in the catalogue, but they have not been applied to the images. I must select the images in question and manually apply the keywords. What is needed for C1 to recognize that the keywords are already applied, via the XMP files that Photo Mechanic has already created in the directory containing the raw images? (If it matters, these are .RAF files created by a Fujifilm X-Pro2.) Does it not update this kind of information in real time?
2) Pending a solution to item 1, I will try to apply keywords to the images manually. I'd like to apply multiple keywords at once to multiple images. But there doesn't seem to be a way to select more than one and apply all selected keywords at the same. Shift-clicking or Control-clicking doesn't do it. Dragging them from the Catalogue Keywords panel into the Keywords panel doesn't work (no such functionality). There's no context (right-click) menu item to add multiple keywords at once. Is it simply impossible?
3) I have tried many times to remove keywords from the catalogue by right-clicking them in the Catalogue Keywords panel and then selecting Delete Selected Keywords. This almost never works. Meaning: If I close C1 and re-open it, the keywords are present even though they seemed to have been removed during the previous session. Once in a while one or two have been removed — but I don't know what caused it to work at one time and not at another. Is there some way to remove them that actually works?
